What We Collect
When you join our mailing list or sign up through our forms, we collect:
- Your name
- Your email address
- Your country of residence
We only collect what we need — nothing more.
Why We Collect It
We use your information to:
- Send you updates about our campaigns and advocacy work
- Let you know about ways to get involved
- Communicate with you if you contact us directly
- Understand where our supporters are located, and apply the correct privacy protections based on your region
We will never use your information for anything beyond these purposes without asking you first.
How We Store It
Your information is stored securely using Zoho Mail and associated Zoho services.
Where we download data collected through our forms or petitions — for example, to compile or review responses — those files are stored on a Microsoft-hosted OneDrive located in Australia.
Where you sign up through one of our online forms, your information is also collected and held by SurveyMonkey, the third-party platform we use to run those forms. Where you sign a petition linked from our site or campaigns, your information is collected and held by Change.org, the third-party platform that hosts our petitions.
SurveyMonkey and Change.org may store data on servers located outside your country, including in the United States. You can read their privacy policies at SurveyMonkey Privacy and Change.org Privacy.
We take reasonable steps to ensure any provider we use protects your data appropriately. However, we do not control how Change.org or SurveyMonkey handle data once it is in their systems; their own privacy policies govern that information.
Who We Share It With
We do not sell, rent, or trade your information to third parties.
We only share your data with trusted service providers — currently Zoho for email and storage, SurveyMonkey for form collection, and Change.org for petition hosting — where necessary to operate, and only to the extent needed for that purpose.
If you sign a petition on Change.org, your name may also be visible to other users or the public depending on the privacy settings you choose on Change.org's platform. This is controlled by Change.org, not by us.
How Long We Keep It
We keep your information for as long as you remain subscribed or as long as reasonably needed for the purposes described above. If you ask us to delete your data, we will do so within a reasonable timeframe.
Your Rights
You can:
- Ask what data we hold about you
- Ask us to correct inaccurate data
- Ask us to delete your data
- Withdraw consent and unsubscribe at any time
If you are located in the EU or EEA, you also have rights under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), including the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.
If you are located in Australia, we handle your information in line with the Australian Privacy Principles under the Privacy Act 1988.
Cookies
The samepodium.org website itself does not use cookies or tracking technology, and we do not run analytics on this site.
If you follow a link from our site to Change.org to sign a petition, or SurveyMonkey to complete a form, those platforms may set their own cookies and use their own tracking technology once you land on their site. This is outside our control. Please refer to the Change.org privacy policy and SurveyMonkey privacy policy for details.

We may update this policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated “last updated” date.
